Hey Everyone! I know it's a little late but here are the results for January 2012's Song Writing Game. The subject was NINJAS IN SPACE and the genre was dance music. We have some great songs and I hope you enjoy them. I also found out how to add a poll to vote on your favorite! The poll is below, first here are the songs. I hope you enjoy them!
Brian Salapek - Ninjas from Space
My comments: I am really proud of how my song turned out. I took a lot of inspiration from Prince with the song. Now, if only I could sing.
Jack Eggleston - Big Trouble in Little Betelgeuse
My comments: I'm glad Jack did a complete song since last month he left me wanting more. The sound clips are from a few great movies and he really went with the repetitive nature of some dance music. Good job on the Peabodys reference!
Joel Forsgren - Placing Bets on Extinction
My comments: Last month, Eric Peabody missed the bit about the subject being a Narwhal's Birthday. This month, Joel missed the bit about it being a dance song. Either way, this is a cool bluesy track with a samurai battle breakdown.
Jon Baker - Intergaractic Boogie
My comments: Jon did a super spacey dance rock song here and I love it. As far as I know, he is also the only one to use a non synthetic drum by banging on a giant barrel for the base beats. There are two Lady Gaga references in here but I can only find one. Also, the spelling in the song title is intentional.
Matt McCray - Dash Rendar Will Save Us
My comments: Matt definitely did the most professional song of all of us. I thought this song was really well done with both writing and recording. It's not super dancey but still Matt did a fantastic job!
Vote for your favorite Song!
Now, I will also use this post to announce the subject matter and genre of this month!
Subject: "The square encompasses a circle"
Genre: Drug Fueled Lounge Music
What the hell does that mean, you ask? Well, here is the inspiration. It is a letter written to our local paper which is pretty out there an hilarious. One of my favorite quotes from it is this: "Therefore the triangle takes on the geometry of a square. The way of the
why? In geometrical analysis: the square encompasses a circle, the
squaring of the circle"
Good luck everyone!
I think that there are some pretty solid songs this month. I had to vote for Jon. His song made me smile and wiggle the most. also, that was some kick as lead at the end there. Joel, I love your song, but it doesn't fit this months style. same with Matt, your song is great, but it didn't feel Dancy enough. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of your songs, you guys are very talented. Thanks for sharing.
